PRESERVATION OF RECORDS
The Board of Revenue - BoR Sindh is in possession of valuable record which dates back to 1800 and 1900s. This comprises revenue registers, forms, sketches and maps. In order to preserve this record and made accessible in a computerized format a two stage strategy is proposed to be adopted.
 
Stage I: De-acidification & Preservation:
In this stage the record will be sifted and categorized in accordance with its physical shape and protective treatment required. Usually these kind of records are divided in three categories which are generally distributed as under
I . Category a:
Where only de-acidification is required, wherein the papers would be dipped in alkaline solution to remove acidity, its PH value would be checked before storage
2. Category b:
In which Mending of documents by using acid free tape for repair is required, later on its de-acidification may be done before its storage.
3. Category c:
Where Conservation by way of using special lamination sheets made of special tissue to act as a coating over the document to improve its strength against tear is also required in addition to mending & deacidification before storage . |
